A note from David
We live an hour and 20 min from the closest Walmart, the school is 20 min from a convenience store. Most of these kids come from broken homes, severely impoverished, school funding is not available. Everything our students need we must come up with. I am an army veteran, pastor, husband for 24 years, father to 5 children. I have multiple Master’s degrees to include Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The school asked if I wouldn’t mind teaching because they had a difficult time finding applicants for such a remote area. I never understood the expense and weight teachers carried until I started putting the classroom together. These are bright kids, but when you hear a tummy grumbling as you sit next to them to do instruction, it is devastating. In my classroom, I believe in acceptance, unconditional love and acceptance. No child should feel like a burden or unwanted. I also believe a hungry belly is a distracted mind.

A wishlist is one moment in a long year. Supplies run out, holiday projects need their own things, and the snack drawer is empty again by February. Adopting means David can tell you what comes up next, and how the year is going in the room itself.
