A note from Erin

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my list! I am entering my 12th year of teaching and hope to create a safe, warm environment where my students can find success everyday. This is my 2nd year teaching 8th grade ELA and my 1st as yearbook sponsor and Girls on the Run co-coach. My list includes everyday essentials, fidgets, and hygiene products & snacks, in a hope that I can help each student reach their potential in my class. I have things on my list that people may be thinking, “huh, that’s a weird item for a classroom wishlist.” For example, I have many personal hygiene products. There are a few reasons for this. But, it boils down to this, I truly believe that if basic needs are not met, learning is so much harder to achieve. If you are hungry, focused on smelling bad after PE, forgot to brush your teeth, unexpectedly got your period (and don’t have the products to help), you are so focused on these other things, that you’re not worried about analyzing a poem. I’ve been asked for all of these things (among many others) and try to support my students however I can. But, I cannot afford to have all the things, all the time. And that’s why I am humbly asking for your support. I truly hate the wishlist sharing part of the year because it makes me feel needy. But, I try to remember that I serve my students and if I can help them succeed by asking others for help, that is what I should do. My goal is to create a Hygiene Station where kids can discreetly take what they need. I am already off to an amazing start because of the donations that I have received, but I am really hoping to clear a few more things. Many are $20 or less, with a good amount under $10. I also completely understand that financially times are tough for many of us. So, I would be so appreciative if you could simply share my list. If you have read this far, thank you so much! I am grateful for your time 💙🖤

A book Erin recommends

Prisoner B-3087 by Alan Gratz. Really anything by Alan Gratz. He is a former teacher turned writer, so he really knows how to grab the attention of students.

Adopt Erin’s classroom

A wishlist is one moment in a long year. Supplies run out, holiday projects need their own things, and the snack drawer is empty again by February. Adopting means Erin can tell you what comes up next, and how the year is going in the room itself.

Once a month at the most, written by Erin. One click to stop, whenever you like. Erin never sees your address, and it is used for nothing else.
